Original Source (Chosun Ilbo via Naver News): "Looks away from maknae writer who is carrying heavy items"...1N2D takes down video after controversy over character
I'm including a summary of what happened during this part of the episode:
During last week's episode, the production team revealed to the cast there was a hidden mission. The hidden mission was centered around manners. After the members participated in a poll, they were instructed to head back to the house, and the social experiment took place during their walk back to the house. When the member was heading back to the house, the maknae writer was alerted to walk out of the hiding space. The writer was carrying a bag over her shoulder as well as two watermelons, one in each hand. The experiment was to see if the member would help carry the item(s).
The first experimentee was Kim Jong Min. The writer walked in front of him, and he said aloud, "Where do I go?" The writer turned around and pointed with the hand carrying the watermelon, "Oppa, over there." Kim Jong Min responded with, "Whose watermelons are those?" In the end, he walked ahead of her and went straight into the house without offering help.
DinDin also walked past the writer while asking which room they were supposed to head to for regrouping. DinDin pointed out that he used formal speech while talking to the maknae writer. He said that he didn't notice the watermelon because he was making eye contact with her when asking her the question.
Yoo Seon Ho walked alongside the writer, looked at the watermelon, and said, "Is it not heavy? It's heavy, right?" The writer was almost at the spot where she needed to drop the things off, saying, "I just need to go over there." He responded with, "It's too late for me to carry it, right?" They laughed and went their separate ways.
Similar to Kim Jong Min, Jo Se Ho asked where he was supposed to go, and the writer pointed in the direction while carrying the watermelon. He confirms which room and then begins going on his phone. He walked to the room while looking down at his phone.
Lee Joon headed toward his manager and did not offer help to carry the writer's things. He pointed out that he typically looks at the ground while walking.
Moon Se Yoon was the only member who offered help. He asked which room he was supposed to go to, noticed the writer carrying things, and immediately went to carry one of the watermelons from the writer's hands. He also took the second watermelon.
1. [+1802 / -117] That's stemming from their usual habits..... don't make excuses... that's just your guys' true self...
2. [+1106 / -26] Big kudos to Moon Se Yoon~~~ Moon Se Yoon is funny and kind~~ I'm supporting Moon Se Yoon~~~
3. [+1092 / -63] Until when do we have to see people like Kim Jong Min? It's annoying. The same can be said about Park Narae. It makes no sense to me that these type of people get popular, make money, and come out on various shows.
4. [+714 / -100] Look at Lee Jae Myung - similar to how they say they're creating a hassle for no reason when campaigning and going on top of a car, inhumane people like them need to be kicked out of politics and the entertainment industry forever (t/n: this is essentially a political comment)
5. [+535 / -252] They each have their own role... If they help, that's great but if they don't, they just need to be good at what they're being paid to do..
6. [+167 / -2] They're not obligated to help but it's not a good look. I wonder if they would have still behaved like that if it was an industry senior or PD carrying the heavy items.... This made me see Moon Se Yoon in a different light
7. [+156 / -8] Whether it's a man or a woman, if you were a human being, wouldn't you help someone if you saw them carrying something heavy in both hand? they're seriously quite new aristocrats ㅋㅋ clowns
8. [+114 / -7] They're sure doing a boring show for so long - cancel it!

1. [+1477 / -429] Everyone has their own roles as well as their own responsibilities and rights. The reason they are getting praised is because they are helping someone who is carrying something heavy. But they have bad character because they didn't help? Can it be this simple? If a celebrity is starving while filming, then tell their managers they should starve - they each are in their own situation, positionality, and roles, but that's a problem with their character?
2. [+943 / -225] The producers and writers are insane; they're set on screwing over their cast members. They each have their own role, is it wrong to not help? If you see an elderly person collecting trash while you're driving, are you then a bad person if you don't pull over and help push their cart?
3. [+452 / -76] Looking past gender, if both my hands were free and I saw a colleague carrying something heavy in both hands and we were also heading the same direction, isn't it common to say that you will carry one of it or offer to carry it together? It doesn't make sense. I'm a woman, but if I see a male colleague carrying something in both hands, I will either carry one of them or help them carry it. Are they not embarrassed to just walk by? Why are they trying to find duty or rights in this? Of course, it's considered manners to help
4. [+363 / -81] Somehow, we have become a society that is cautious about offering a hand unless someone explicitly asks for help first.
5. [+250 / -16] It's not because it's a woman carrying it, but watermelons are heavy even when men carry it. Whether it's a man or woman, isn't it right to help if it's a colleague you are working with? If they're the maknae of the team, it would be nice if you offered to help regardless if they are strong or not. It's not like they're helping someone they don't know.
The online discussion over this segment turned into a gender debate. Some are saying that regardless of gender, it is common courtesy to offer help to someone who is carrying heavy things. While others are saying why should they have to help if people are "pushing" feminism and "girls can do anything." 😬
I think it's common courtesy to offer a hand if you see someone carrying heavy things on their own, especially if it's a colleague.
